The Difference Between Flight Attendants and the Cabin Crew

A+ A- A

Flight attendant smilingFor most people, flight attendants and cabin crew mean the same thing; people who make sure that flight passengers are kept happy, educated about the airplane safety instructions, and offered drinks and peanuts! However, flight attendants are not the same as the cabin crew. We described what flight attendants do above, so what’s the difference between the two?

Flight Attendants and Cabin Crew

The cabin crew is everyone who works onboard the airplane. This includes flight attendants, senior flight attendants (pursers), and even onboard chefs. They are all a part of the cabin crew, which is the team responsible for your comfort and well-being on a flight.

Each member of a cabin crew has a different role:

  • Flight attendants instruct patients on how to act during an emergency, serve the meals, and take care of the passengers.
  • Pursers or senior flight attendants are in charge of the whole crew that has contact with the passengers. They work as supervisors of all the operations onboard the aircraft. They earn a higher salary and are more experienced than flight attendants.

This means that flight attendants are a part of the cabin crew, but they’re not the only ones! There is a team of people keeping you safe, entertained, and cared for during your flight.

Here at CW Flight, we are passionate about education regarding airplanes, flight crew job opportunities, pilot training, and renting or housing private planes. For more information, please contact our Salt Lake City, Utah office today.
